Prep and Care

Preparing for Your Custom Airbrush Session!

  • Female clients over the age of 18 may choose to tan in a swimsuit/undergarments, topless or in the nude. Male clients may wear a thong if desired. Clients under 18 must have parental approval and must wear a full swimsuit or equivalent.

  • Shower and Exfoliate your skin with a loofah or mitt prior to your session! Remember to exfoliate around your feet, ankles and around your underarms, neck, and navel.

  • Shave at least 8 hours before your spray tan session.

  • Don’t apply ANY lotions, makeup, or deodorant after your shower, as these can create a barrier, preventing the absorption of tanning solution.

  • Be prepared to pull your hair back from you face and up off of your back.

  • After the tan, wear dark, loose fitting clothing (preferably jersey material) and thong flip-flops if you can. If you do not plan to wear a bra during your session, then you shouldn‘t wear one for awhile after. Spray tan solution washes out of most clothing, but the cosmetic bronzer could wipe off on lighter colored clothes, giving temporary discoloration. Denium is known to rub more than other fabrics.

  • If your car has leather seats, then please bring a towel to place over your seat so your legs do not sweat and wear away your airbrush tan (during hot weather).

What to Expect the Day of Your Spray!

  • The session will take approximately 10-15 minutes. The first will take a bit longer.

  • When your session is complete, you will feel tacky, which is normal and is due to the high concentration of moisturizers in the solution. Don’t moisturize until after your first shower.

  • Don’t wear wool, nylon or silk during or after your spray tan application for at least 8 hours as the sunless ingredients could cause those materials to stain.

  • Don’t touch or rub your skin, as this could remove your tan, including carrying your purse in your hands and not on your shoulder.

  • Avoid water, such as baby slobber, dog licks, water fountains. Be extra careful when washing hands.

  • Avoid sweating at all costs the day of the spray! Avoid sneakers and workouts for at least 6-8 hours. Excessive sweating, such as that in sneakers in the summer, can make your color guide look greenish or yellowish, and will fade your tan.

  • Wait at least 8 hours before you shower or swim after your sunless tanning application. This will allow time for the self-tanning reaction to occur in the skin. For best results, leave overnight.

  • During your first shower, you will see excessive amounts of color running down your drain. No fear, this is the cosmetic bronzer used which allows to see the color going onto your skin. You will be left with a beautiful tan!

Caring for Your Custom Airbrush Tan!
  • Your face naturally exfoliates at a much faster rate than your body, so be prepared for your face to lose its color approximately two days after your spray.

  • Avoid long hot baths, swimming pools, hot tubs and salt water as these speed up exfoliation.

  • Apply lotion liberally and at least twice daily.

  • Your lotion should not contain oil or petrolatum as the first five or six ingredients (these products actually remove the color)

This will keep your tan looking fresh and new.

  • Pat your skin dry after a bath or shower. Rubbing your skin may rub off your tan.

  • Shave with sharp/new razors

  • MOISTURIZE your skin every time you bathe to maintain color. Apply to the face and body using circular motions.

  • BEST to use TAN EXTENDERS!!

  • For a flawless look, try and have a weekly airbrush session!

Things that could lighten or make your tan blotchy:
  • Dove Soap and Shower Gel

  • Curel Lotion

  • Hair Thinning Lotion or Removing Lotion

  • Anti-aging products or AHA's

  • Beta Hydroxy Acids-salicylic acid)

  • Retin-A type products (Retin-A, Renova, Tazorac, Tretinoin)

  • Toners containing Alcohols or Witch Hazel

  • Anti-acne products(Accutane, salicylic acid)

  • Loofas

  • BandAids pull off layers of "tan"

  • Facial masks and scrubs

  • Pore cleansing facial strips

  • Hair Remover Products

  • Bleach products for body hair

  • Hot tubs, chlorine and salt water

  • A woman's tan can be directly affected by her hormones. Considering her cycle/pregnancy it can cause blotchiness or the color not to develop as dark as normally. It's not common, but it happens.

  • Oily skin types usually develop lighter and require and extra spray in 24-48 hours to get your base color.

  • Bug sprays - try to spray your clothes instead of you. If you must have it on you, spray a "cloud" to go through.
